How is the Term "Coloured Stone" Used?
The term Coloured Stone is used to refer to all gem materials other than diamond. It includes such diverse substances as rubies, emeralds, sapphires, pearls, coral, garnet and jade
What is a Carat (ctw) Weight?
A diamond's weight is measured in carats. The weight is often stated in fractions of a carat. For example, 1/5, 1/4, 1/2 carat. A carat is divided into 100 points, so that a diamond of 25 points equals 1/4 carat and 50 points equals 1/2 carat.
What is a Total Weight Diamond?
Total weight diamonds (cttw) refers to the total weight of all the diamonds in the jewelry. For example, a cluster ring with a number of small diamonds may have a total weight of 1/2 carat. A ring with 2 or 3 stones and diamonds on the side may have a total weight of 3/4 carats.
What Shapes are Gems Available in?
There are several unique and interesting shapes in the industry. Some of the most popular styles are: Round, Marquise, Pear, Princess, Heart, Oval and Emerald.
Do you sell your diamonds individually?
Unfortunately not. The high costs of insurance combined with the inablitity of the customer to see such a valuable stone mean that we feel it unsuitable to provide this service currently.
What Should I Look For in Purchasing Pearls?
The five factors in determining a pearl's value are luster, surface, shape, color and size. The single most important factor when determining a pearl's value. Generally, the greater the luster the more valuable the pearl. Luster is the true warm inner glow and shimmering iridescence of the pearl emanating from within.
How Do I Determine My Ring Size?
Measuring Your Finger Your ring should fit your finger comfortably; snug enough so that it will not fall off, but loose enough to slide over your knuckle.
Finger size changes depending on the time of day and the weather. For best results measure your finger size:
- - At the end of the day and when your fingers are warm (Fingers are smaller in the early morning and when cold.)
- - Measure finger size 3 to 4 times to eliminate an erroneous reading.
Avoid using string or paper to measure ring size as these materials can stretch or twist, yielding an inaccurate measurement. Ring Sizes in the US. Women's rings typically range from size 3 to 9. The most commonly purchased women's ring sizes in the Allcelticjewellery range from size 5 to 7. Size 6 being the most popular ring size. Men's rings typically range from size 8 to 14. The most commonly purchased men's ring sizes range from size 8 to 10 1/2. Size 9 being the most popular ring size.
Tips for Buying the Ring as a Surprise
Ask your significant other's friends or mother if they know her/his finger size. Borrow his/her ring (from the correct finger) and use the ring measurements above to determine its size.

If you are buying an expensive ring or an item you intend to wear permanently, then we recommend that you visit a reputable High Street jeweller's shop and get the ring size for your finger(s) measured accurately by a trained member of staff.
